CORUM Takes New ESG Initiatives on SDG 4, 10 & 13

CORUM has recently updated a series of initiatives to lower environmental impacts and promote science education. These new programs align with the UN SDGs, addressing some of the most pressing ESG issues in the cosmetic industry, including carbon emissions, quality education and ensuring equality. We hope to strengthen the caring for the disadvantaged and environmental protection via the updated programs, to develop with our 4C's ESG cornerstones.

Conscious environmental protection

To support the UN SDG 13 “Climate Action” and IEA's "Net Zero by 2050", we have launched a program in 2021 to progressively reduce our transport GHG emission by encouraging and evaluating customers to consolidate multiple orders into one. Acting as our short-term strategy, our policy is to decrease the total number of our deliveries in Taiwan by 12% in the first year of launch.

In the long run, we will further evaluate supplier indirect emissions and develop strategic and feasible action plans to reduce scope 3 GHG emissions, and further extend the scheme across other markets. Meanwhile, we are also working toward another new sustainable goal by redesigning and simplifying our packaging options to promote waste reduction.

Corporate social engagement

In view of combining Art and Science, this year CORUM newly established an Art Promotion Annual Award with Xin Chuan Second-hand Bookstore in Chiayi, Taiwan, to encourage students to learn scientific knowledge from videos or books and express their ideas with art creation. To further expand the campaign’s influence around the world, our stakeholders including customers, distributors, vendors, suppliers and employees will all be invited to vote for their favorite artwork on the internet, creating a meaningful engagement for both contestants and voters. In addition, CORUM also launched “Books for Hope, Love in Chiayi” children's book donation campaign. By donating all the used books gathered by our employees to Xin Chuan Second-hand Bookstore, we together provide free educational resources to students come from families with financial difficulties.

Aligning with SDG 4 “Quality Education” and SDG 10 “Reduced Inequalities" introduced by United Nations, the campaigns aim to promote equal education for disadvantaged students by implementing their cultivation of scientific reading and art and stimulating their creativity and observation throughout the rewarded campaign.

We will continue to enhance our ESG practices and develop new initiatives centering around the 4C’s cornerstones to improve sustainable governance, energy conservation, environmental protection, and social value creation.
